...Preoccupied with 1985!
The July 4th weekend has become “Class
Reunion” weekend in Ely, Nevada. Graduates from White Pine High
School return to their hometown from their new homes all over
the world. It’s a time to see old friends, visit family and take
a trip down memory lane.
Some things haven’t changed much since we graduated... the
mountains and skies are still beautiful, there are still only
three stop lights and no traffic jams and no Wal-Marts, you can
still see wildlife and wildflowers all over the hills.
But there are also many new things to see and do in the county.
Come check out the new internationally famous murals on
buildings all over Ely, have a milkshake at Economy Drug’s new
50's style fountain (yes they still serve the best tuna
sandwiches), see the new facilities at Cave Lake and the
Charcoal Ovens, or drive out to the Great Basin National Park
and hike up to see the Bristlecone Pines (still among the
worlds’ oldest living things!).
The new Great Basin Visitor Center will have a Grand Opening in
Baker on July 4 weekend with Sen. Harry Reid making a
dedication. There are lots of other events also that weekend...
keep an eye on the WP Chamber of Commerce website for the latest
events on the community calendar at
www.whitepinechamber.com.
The Class of ‘85 Reunion Committee has squeezed in a couple of
events during the weekend so we can all get together. The first
will be a no-host cocktail party at 6 p.m. Saturday night
at Grub’s Club in downtown Ely. We’ll have plenty hors d’oeuvres
and lots of fun.
Then at 1 p.m. Sunday, we’re planning a big family picnic at
Murry Summit.
We’ll have a class picture and tons of hamburgers, hot dogs and
chorizos!
We’ve already heard that at least 30 families will be coming.
But, so we know how many to plan for, PLEASE return the
following registration form and
your payment to Nikki Barainca
NO LATER THAN JUNE 15, 2005.
If you will need hotel/motel rooms, please call to book them
NOW! Believe it or not, we get a lot of out of town visitors now
and we’ve already heard some places are booked...
For a complete list of hotels/motels look on-line at

Can You Help Us
Find These Classmates?
We have a pretty complete
database of everyone in the Class of ‘85 with either their
mailing addresses or e-mail addresses, but we haven’t been able
to get contact information for the following people. If you know
how to get a hold of them, would you have them contact us or
forward a copy of the registration form to them? This list
includes not only those who graduated, but everyone who attended
with us during the four years of high school.
